Ivory angrakha with a side-tied overlap and delicate gold floral embroidery

Angrakha

Side-tied overlap with a soft drape — understated, and beautifully suited to mehndi.

The angrakha wraps across the body and ties at the side, so the front falls as a soft diagonal rather than a straight opening. It is one of the oldest cuts in the region's dress and one of the quietest — the drape does the work, which is why it suits a lighter hand with the embroidery.

It is a good answer when you want presence without weight. A worked neckline and border over a plain field reads as considered, and the overlap gives the eye a line to follow that heavier pieces have to earn with density.

We cut it in katan and silk for structure, and in organza and net where you want the layer to float. The tie is fitted at the second fitting, because where it sits changes how the whole front hangs.
